Great to keep on hand for a hostess gift!

Cara of Discovery Toys has many unique and educational items for our precious little ones (they are our future) so let’s talk teething.

Rita of And More Bags has become an icon in the green movement with her reusable snack bags.  She sold out at the last craft fair, but not to worry, she has since restocked!  I love them!  They make awesome gifts.

Stop using plastic bags! Try these.

Teri of The Beaded Branch not only makes gorgeous jewelry and bags, but she is an author of a tutorial for her coveted Past Present Treasures!

Blog visibility

by aleximanievents

I came across a blog, Moms wear your Tees, she was reviewing a blog tool to give your blog more visibility.

Blog Buzzer is a FREE easy to use tool that helps authors of blogs get their work noticed. Most blog entries are found by other internet users through search engines and blog related directories, Blog Buzzer will automatically send your blog to these directories and search engines for you. BlogBuzzer  pings your blog for FREE, for those on a restricted marketing budget, this is great.  All you need to do, go to BlogBuzzer.com and put in your blog name and address.  It is that simple!

They also have a premium account which will automatically update your ping status.  The premium account was only $9.00 for a year.  I thought this was a great price , so I signed up .  I am hoping this investment will pay off to make my blog more visible.

Hope this is helpful to getting your blog to be more visible.  Here are some more free tips for getting your blogs noticed.

Spring Organizing

04/20/2010
by aleximanievents

It’s spring let’s get to organizing and clearing our workspaces and homes.  Question is where do we start?

Organizing is more than just an act of clearing your space, it also declutters your mind.  I don’t know about you but I seem to get really annoyed , and overwhelmed around clutter.  I start by getting mad at the clutter, then mad that I can’t work effectively because of the clutter, then mad at myself for causing the clutter and needless to say it is a vicious circle of blame and annoyance.

Here are some tips to decluttering, organizing and getting back some level of sanity from HGTV:

1. Invest in adequate furniture.
Make sure your office furniture provides ample space for work and storage.2. Establish activity centers.
The efficient office should be zoned into activity areas:

  • The Work Center, which includes a clear workspace, the computer and frequently used office products.
  • The Reference Center, which includes binders, manuals, dictionary and professional books and materials.
  • The Supply Center, which contains office and paper supplies.

3. Properly place the hardware and peripherals.

  • Position your equipment by frequency of use. If the printer is used daily, it should be within easy reach. If the CPU is only accessed for troubleshooting, it can be placed under or next to the desk. If a scanner is rarely used, it can be placed outside the work area.
  • When setting up hardware, be conscious of access to drives, trays and cords. Don’t block access to drawers or take up leg room with tangled

The winter blahs are slowly rolling away with the arrival of spring.  If you like myself have been going through a sluggish time and your creativity seems to be wavering, here is an article from Everyday Health that will show you the benefits your creativity can have on your health.

Creativity reduces stress and keeps you healthy.  The article highlights some reasons why creativity is important.

  • It’s enjoyable
  • It stimulates the brain
  • It boosts self-confidence

Read the rest of the article, it will help you to balance work and play and make the most of your creative time.

For the sassy sisters I know that creativity is also work so lets find a way to make them both work for better emotional and financial health.

The Sassy Sisters in Sales has grown so much that I do not think everyone is aware of the goodies we have available to us.  Let’s see what I can find.

Arlene Holtz of Spirit Essence Art has original artwork!  Check this out:

Brenda Chesney of Purely Natural Minerals features any kind of mineral face care you may desire, but I found Glitter!!  We all need to sparkle now and then.

Marie Davies of Faery Charming offers a wide array of jewelry, I loved this pair of earrings:

Morika of Under the New Moon has a plethora of goodies in her shop.  So much fun to browse through, but I found one of my favorite items.  I use this almost every day!  A Celestial Tea strainer with moons and stars!
Well, sisters, this is just a brief review.  I will be adding more later, but in the meantime make sure you update the “Group Business” database in Yahoo so I can find you and show some of your awesome wares!!

An interview with Christina of Brown Bag Party!

03/12/2010
by thesassysistersinsales
How and when did you get started with this business?
I started my Brown Bag Party biz in July of 08. I started the biz thinking that it would be a fun way to bring in extra money for my family. I also, in the back of my mind, never thought that I could stand in front of a group of people and talk about romance products!

Who or what inspired you to begin this business? As a stay at home mom to two girls, I loved the idea of being able to help bring in some extra income. I also liked the idea of getting out of the house to do parties and meet new people.

What has been the most difficult aspect of this business for you?
My own fears and thoughts!

What has been the most fabulous aspect of this business for you?
My favorite thing about my business is all of the great people that I have had the opportunity to meet! I have made some amazing friends through this business.

Where do you sell your items?
I have an online store where people can purchase all the items we sell. Most of my sales come from home parties.
Where do you see yourself in the next 2 months? A year?
In the next two months I hope to have a full calendar all the time! In a year I would love to have a team of at least 5 people under me.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 5 things would you desperately miss?
My family, my friends, my phone, my computer, and probably tv.

Now for something fun and totally off topic, What’s your favorite song and artist?
Hmm…well, I will have to say that my favorite song is All I Want to Do by Sugarland! That takes care of my favorite artist as well!

Effectiveness

03/09/2010
by aleximanievents

One of my goals for this year was to enhance my awareness through various resources.  A book that I have always wanted to read is Stephen Covey’s “7  Habits of Highly Effective People“.  Well I opted to get the audio book from the library.  It allows me to do my housework, and other work while listening.  I am so glad that I got this book and I haven’t even finished it.  I know now that I will have to buy this book as it should be a resource book in everyone’s life.

I would like to share some points that Covey mentioned on effectiveness.

Effective:  Getting what you want and getting what you want in a way that allows you to duplicating your results over and over again.

His formula to achieve effectiveness is having a PPC balance.

P – Production                   PC- Production Control

When applied in business this would mean not only being concerned so much with what is being produced, but also who is helping you produce.  If you owned a restaurant and you were merely concerned with how many people are being served in a certain amount of time and you have no concern for your server, you have arrived at a PPC imbalance.  When the capacity of the asset to produce becomes ineffective you have a  PPC imbalance.

I want to be a great boss and You have to do all you can to maintain a balance or you will reduce  effectiveness.  Covey talked about the body, sometimes we run and run, eat poorly, get no excercise and wonder why we experience a body that does not function as it should.

Something that came to mind when I was listening was blogging.  We worry about producing , making sure that we post frequently yet is possible to be so eager to produce a post that you may not produce effective content.  Taking time to read, read other blogs, stop to just breath, review our goals and passions will give us the renewed strength that we need to have an effective blog.

Where do you find your PPC inbalance?

What steps will you take to become highly effective in those areas?

Get a copy of this life changing book. Stop by next week to get another Covey insight.  Love to hear your comments.

A sassy interview with Laura Reynolds RN of Melaleuca

03/08/2010
by thesassysistersinsales
How and when did you get started with this business?
I have been looking for something for many years to help me have more freedom for my family and although each business I found had great products and compensation they were not for me. I have always gained knowledge and kept on with my endeavors. I got started in Melaleuca in Nov. 2009

Who or what inspired you to begin this business?

A friend approached me and explained how the company has grown and continues to grow in our economy due to the savings they offer their customers. I especially liked that they had products that we use on a daily basis so I was not storing or selling anything. Their mission is to enhances the lives of people by helping them reach their goals. We just switch stores, save money get safer products for our family, and trade coupons for checks !

What has been the most difficult aspect of this business for you?
The actual face to face has been difficult as even though we should not take an ” I am not interested” personal human nature is to. Once I get over the hurdle of starting conversation my Love for the product and the company shows and conversation seems easier. Then I have to learn to not go on and on.
Where do you sell your items?
I am attempting to learn about online advertising . I do shows and just use word of mouth as more and more people want to save money and go “Green”.  We are not an MLM, we are consumer driven and we get paid to refer others!

What has been the most fabulous aspect of this business for you?
The ability to do this business for the average person is awesome. Training and support are by far the best I have ever had as they truly help you to succeed. The products have been wonderful and I know I am doing my part for the environment and my families well being by switching from chemical based cleaners to an all natural one along with cutting down on the plastic that goes into my recycling cans.

Where do you see yourself in the next 2 months? A year?
Promotions are reachable and I see myself in Director status on the way to getting my car bonus in 2 months and to be at least Sr. Director in 1 year matching my income from my JOB and not living paycheck to paycheck. Having more freedom to chose what I do and when I do it.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 5 things would you desperately miss?
The TV (even though I do not watch much )
Coffee
Chocolate
Friends and Family

Now for something fun and totally off topic, What’s your favorite song and artist?
I like Country and Western and some light rock. My favorite Artist is a group called Rascal Flats and the song is My Wish.
